Liquid Controls positive displacement (PD) flowmeters are precision<\/strong> liquid measurement instruments<\/strong> that maintain a lifetime of precise and accurate fluid metering<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

They are designed for liquid measurement in both custody-transfer and process-control applications and can be installed in pump or gravity flow systems. Because of their simple design, they are easy to maintain, and easy to adapt to a variety of systems.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>

O meter housing (1)<\/strong> is designed with three cylindrical bores (2)<\/strong>. Three rotors, the blocking rotor (3)<\/strong> and two displacement rotors (4 & 5)<\/strong>, turn in synchronized relationship within the bores. The three rotors are supported by bearing plates (6 & 7)<\/strong>. The ends of the rotors protrude through the bearing plates where the blocking rotor gear (8)<\/strong> is placed on the end of the blocking rotor and the displacement rotor gears (9 & 10)<\/strong> are placed on the ends of the displacement rotors.\u00a0 These gears create the synchronized timed relationship<\/strong> between the three rotors.<\/p>\n<\/div>

As fluid moves through the meter housing, the rotor assembly turns and the liquid is divided into uniform sections by the turning rotors.\u00a0 While measured fluid is displaced by additional fluid entering the meter, the new portion of the fluid is partitioned and measured, and the fluid ahead of it is displaced out of the meter.\u00a0 Since the volume of the bores is known and the same amount of fluid passes through the meter during each revolution of the blocking rotor, the exact volume of liquid that has passed through the meter can be determined with a high degree of accuracy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This true rotary motion is transmitted through the packing gland, the face gear, the adjuster drive shaft, and the adjuster to the register stack and counter.\u00a0 True rotary motion output means consistent accuracy<\/strong>, since the register indication is in precise agreement with the actual volume throughput at any instant.\u00a0 At any position in the cycle, the meter body, the blocking rotor, and at least one of the displacement rotors form a continuous capillary seal between the unmetered upstream product and the metered downstream product.<\/p>\n

Because the product is separated by the capillary seal, no metal-to-metal contact is required within the metering element. This means no wear, and no wear means no increase in slippage, which means no deterioration in accuracy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The product flowing through the meter exerts a dynamic force that is at right angles to the faces of the displacement rotors and the rotor shafts are always in a horizontal plane.\u00a0 These two facts result in no axial thrust.\u00a0 Therefore,<\/strong> LC meters do not need thrust washers or thrust bearings<\/strong>, and the rotors automatically seek the center of the stream between the two bearing plates \u2013 eliminating wear between the ends of the rotors and the bearing plates.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":196344599,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"content-type":"","_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-3968","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"yoast_head":"\nHow LC meters work -
